We were in the ancient Incan capital of Cusco, Peru when we saw this Quechua woman sitting against one of the city's Incan stone walls. Her baby alpaca, which complemented her alpaca wool sweater, was beautifully decorated, just like this woman with her colorful shawl and hat. So we asked her for a picture, and paid her for this iconically-Peruvian shot which will forever represent to me the stoicism and resilience of indigenous Peruvian culture.
